About Nutrition Clarity Foundation
We exist to create clarity around food, life, and everyday decisions.
Nutrition Clarity Foundation (NCF) is a nonprofit focused on advancing food literacy through accessible, education-first initiatives that support real life—not ideal circumstances.
We help individuals and families navigate food decisions with more clarity, confidence, and understanding, especially during seasons of stress, overwhelm, or transition.
Because for many people, food isn’t just nutrition—it’s budgeting, time, energy, caregiving, and survival all happening at once.
Why This Work Matters
Most people were never truly taught how to understand food—only how to navigate it through restriction, confusion, or trial and error.
Food labels are overwhelming.
Nutrition messaging is inconsistent.
And everyday food decisions often happen under pressure, not clarity.
At the same time, many individuals and families are carrying heavy daily loads—financial stress, burnout, caregiving responsibilities, and limited time or energy.
NCF exists to bridge that gap.
We believe clarity changes how people show up for their everyday lives.
Our Approach
We treat food literacy as a life skill—not a set of rules.
Our approach is:
Practical, not perfection-based
Educational, not prescriptive
Accessible, not overwhelming
Grounded in real-world life, not idealized conditions
We help people build confidence in:
Reading and understanding food labels
Navigating grocery decisions and marketing claims
Making informed food choices in real-life environments
Reducing confusion and decision fatigue around food
Our goal is not to tell people what to eat.
Our goal is to help people understand what they are choosing—and why.
Our Work
Nutrition Clarity Foundation advances food literacy through:
Community education sessions
Workshops and learning experiences
Free educational resources
Digital content and tools
Partnerships with community organizations
Our work is designed to be accessible, flexible, and usable in everyday life.
Meet The Founder
“Food is rarely just food—it’s stress, survival, and decision-making happening in real time.”
NCF was founded by Autumn Shelton, whose work is rooted in both professional experience and lived reality.
Growing up in seasons of food scarcity and survival mode, Autumn experienced firsthand how deeply food impacts not just health—but stress, decision-making, and daily life.
Without access to nutrition literacy or structured food education, she learned to navigate food through experience, observation, and necessity rather than guidance.
That lived experience, combined with over eight years in healthcare operations and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, revealed a consistent gap:
People are expected to make complex food and wellness decisions without being given the clarity or education to support them.
Later, raising her own family gave her a deeper understanding of how survival mode shows up in everyday life—from food decisions to mental load—and how deeply patterns around food, stress, and time shape daily living across generations.
NCF was created in response to that gap.
A belief that clarity is not a luxury—but a foundation.
Our Vision
We envision communities where individuals and families feel supported, informed, and confident in their everyday food decisions.
Where food becomes less about confusion and pressure—and more about understanding, stability, and care.
Where people have the tools and support they need to move through life with greater clarity.
